The most common preparation error is treating the Perse English as two separate tasks — a comprehension section and a creative writing section — because that is what most London 11+ schools test. The Perse format is a single integrated task. Candidates who arrive having only practised discrete comprehension questions are structurally unprepared.

Maths (45 min)

45 minutes · Handwritten written paper progressing from KS2 arithmetic to multi-step logic-based problem-solving. No calculator. Method marks awarded explicitly — correct working earns marks even when the final answer is wrong.

Drilling arithmetic speed and final-answer accuracy is the most common Maths preparation error for the Perse.
