Across multiple official policies and FAQs, the consistent position is that Year 7 applicants must first qualify as selective/grammar-assessed, while offers are then decided under oversubscription criteria. For 2027/28, the school introduces an additional selective route via the Weald Grammar Assessment.
Waiting list intelligence
Official FAQ says if places become available after the initial offers, Kent County Council offers further places from the waiting list.
Official admissions policy states the school is usually over-subscribed.

Misconceptions we hear most often about this school
Passing the Kent Test alone does not secure a place.
Qualifying as selective-eligible is only the first hurdle. Final allocation depends on oversubscription criteria, and distance from the school is frequently the deciding factor.
A published qualifying threshold is not the same as a final offer position after oversubscription.
Parents often assume the highest scorers get priority. In practice, once a child meets the selective threshold, proximity to the school can matter more than raw score.
Out-of-county applicants can apply, but the school warns they may not receive a first-round offer.
This means there's no single pass mark to aim for. Preparation should focus on performing strongly across all areas rather than targeting a specific number.
